Religion's Paradox

The previous page, “Recruitment Strategy” establishes that all religions believe that they are right, and all other religions are wrong. Some religions pretend that they are accepting of other religions… but behind closed doors and away from the eyes and ears of the media and potential recruits, they are just as intolerant and bigoted as all the others.

The fact that all religions believe that they are right and every other religion is wrong leads to a puzzling paradox.

If 99.999% of all the religions in the world are false why do we treat them all as though they were the .001% that (might be) true?!

The answer is because we’re stupid! For centuries we have allowed religions to get away with the greatest scam in human history. Pick any religion in your neighbourhood. Following on the logic of their teaching it is 99.999% certain that that religion is false! It is supported by Satan the devil! It is evil! Any “goodness” it may preach is Satan inspired trickery… all designed to keep people away from the one true religion that has God’s blessing.

So why don't we treat these false religions like the undesirable organizations that they are? For guidance we can look to the way we treat the tobacco industry. Like religion this industry preys on a weakness in people and exists now mainly because of its history. If cigarettes were invented today does anyone believe that any civilised government would allow them to be sold?! SMART believes the same applies to religion. Let’s deal with religion the way we deal with tobacco. Let’s ban religious advertising. Let’s provide government sponsored factual information to counter religious superstition and propaganda. And then, like we do with tobacco, let’s tax religions at punitive rates. Churches usually occupy valuable real estate. Let’s re-zone that land and tax it at a rate that will force religions to either sell or go bankrupt!

Of course, these policies wouldn't apply to the one true religion, the one that is doing Gods will on Earth. And which religion is that? Unfortunately SMART people are not smart enough to know. But in an effort to find out why don't we compel all religions to provide an answer to the following question: "Why should someone join your religion and not any other religion?" Surely in its answer to this question God's one true religion will be able to distinguish itself from all those Satan supported false religions? Once identified, this one true religion should have all its previous privileges and status in society restored and it should have the full cooperation of all responsible governments.

If a religious person is absolutely certain that their religion is the one true one then how could they object to the above policy? Shouldn’t they welcome the prospect of ridding the world of evil false religions?!!!

On the assumption that it does exist what does God's one true religion have to fear from facing up to the logical consequences of its teachings?
