All religions okay?

SMART society asserts that if there is a God (in the biblical sense) there can be only one true religion. But what if God accepts that people of different religions will worship him in different ways?

In writing this page we could have picked many examples but let’s just look at 2 religions that call themselves "Christian" and who base all their beliefs on the bible: Roman Catholics and Jehovah’s Witnesses. Roman Catholics believe that God wants everyone to worship* the virgin Mary, to not practise birth control and that if you need a blood transfusion to save your life you must accept it (failure to do so would be tantamount to suicide - a cardinal sin). Jehovah's Witnesses believe that it is a sin to worship the virgin Mary, that it’s okay to practise birth control, but if you need a blood transfusion to save your life…too bad… you
re going to die! How logical is it that God would give his blessing to both of these religions? If He did then you could have this ridiculous scenario with St. Peter at the Pearly Gates:

“Next! What religion were you?”

“Jehovah’s Witness”

“Did you have a blood transfusion on Earth?”

“Yes”

“Sorry, down you go to an eternity in hell! Next! What religion were you?”

“Roman Catholic”

“Did you have a blood transfusion on Earth?”

“Yes”

“Welcome to an eternity in paradise!”

The warm and fuzzy all-religions-are-okay philosophy is attractive because it allows its proponents to relax and do nothing. They don't have to make a stand against anything. But logically, if there is a God in the biblical sense, there can be only one true religion… and that must mean that all the others are false.

* Roman Catholics prefer to use the softer word, "revere"
